Teoria e Contexto em Ação: Passado Contínuo (WAS / WERE)

Veja em ação:
John: "What were you doing when I called?"
Ana: "I was working on the report. He was helping me."

Usamos o Passado Contínuo para falar de ações que estavam *em progresso* em um momento específico do passado (ex: "ontem à noite") ou que foram interrompidas por outra ação.

A fórmula é: Sujeito + Verbo to Be no Passado (WAS/WERE) + Verbo com -ING.

  • WAS: Usado com I, He, She, It. (I was working)
  • WERE: Usado com You, We, They. (They were working)

Para I / He / She / It:

  • Afirmativa: I was eating.
  • Negativa: I was not (wasn't) eating.
  • Interrogativa: Was I eating?
